365 Days of Us: Day 89

Sunday. 19th June 2016.

My baby finchies 21 days old (and Benji – Dad finch). Growing so quick. They have fledged now and flap around the cage exploring, except the finch in the middle, Scruffy Duck, I don’t think he will survive, he’s small and weak and keeps falling from the nest and I keep shoving him back in… :/  We had five babies, now down to three…

First time Zebra Finch breeder… this is so hard, stressful and exciting all at once! Excuse the POO.

365 Days of Us: Day 87

Friday. 17th June 2016.

She’s gunna hate me, but I love this! Side shave, tribal instincts and hidden braids. Beautiful blonde, beautiful soul, beautiful woman.

Her new found lease on life is manifesting through hair change. Change is good, keep on keeping it real Dan, you fucking ROCK!

365 Days of Us: Day 85

Wednesday. 15th June 2016.

Clearly this isn’t my photograph, nor was it taken today. It came across my news-feed just now and I was truly grieved by it at first, but after reading the article it was more of an awakening I guess. I don’t often blog about or include whats going on in and around the world, but I couldn’t let this pass by and if if I am honest, this entire event has affected me.

What this pair of shoes represent is important though. The blood that stains these shoes should be a poignant reminder that we all bleed the same colour.

Red.

Blood is not a label. Your gender is not a label. Your race, hair colour, breast size are not labels. We are all human, made of bone, flesh, water and blood.

Being man or woman doesn’t change that. Being straight, bi or gay doesn’t change that either. Nor so for being Catholic, Muslim or Buddhist, it won’t change your blood colour either. You can’t tell from looking at these shoes, whose blood belongs to who; who owed more money or who had a 20 dollar note left to get them through to the next pay. You can’t tell who had kids and who didn’t, who was the aunt and who was the uncle. What about the brothers, or perhaps the sisters and the sons and the daughters? No. The colour of your blood won’t show me any of this.

The fact that it took over 50 innocent lives to show the non-difference of our blood is a senseless waste of life. This was a hating human killing innocent humans, for what ever reason be it race, religion, sexual orientation or maybe all of it with a touch of fucking crazy! It sickens me to the core.

It’s time for the hate to stop.

What this one single colour of blood on these shoes has done, was show that in times of fear, of hate, of terror, of carnage, of confusion and of disbelief and of every other word I can summon to describe the Orlando Massacre is this:

We are ONE. We will triumph over the fear. We will prevail and continue to withstand.

Thank you to those who have stood up for these innocent lives, banded together and made a small difference.

One human bleeding red for all humankind ~ Nom

365 Days of Us: Day 84

Tuesday. 14th June 2016.

If you’re lucky you might get one, or maybe two of this kind of friend, who come into your life as the ‘sister from another mother’. A friend who is there, rain, hail and shine, shit times and good times, through thick and thin and all the crap in between. I’m extremely lucky as I have a nice little handful of these. More than a fair share. So blessed I am and so grateful for each one.

A big huge squishy we love you and Happy Birthday to our Lea Lea!

Took us until 8pm tonight to get you home and ‘available’ after working all day and then racing around the country side doing your Mum duties.

Huge love, we hope you enjoyed your cake 🙂

365 Days of Us: Day 83

Monday. 13th June 2016.

So today Collingwood got pumped by Melbourne. (Well done Melbourne!)

I have followed Collingwood all of my life, but before I start this irate post I want to clear up the following, because unlike most Pies supporters I am a realistic and level headed adult and I do not conform to the normal parameters that other club supporters insist on boxing Pies supporters into. So before you become one of those stupid foot in mouth supporters who love to bag Collingwood out, or just because you’re a moron like I have just described, read the below!

  • I have all my teeth
  • I am literate and actually consider myself to be quite smart
  • I am employed
  • I am educated
  • I am not racist
  • I don’t particularly care for Eddie Maguire or the cranky peanut Joffa in the gold jacket.
  • I can hold an interesting, engaging and intelligent conversation
  • Yes I agree with the anti-Pies-populous that Cloke is fucking useless
  • I also concede not picking the Pies all the fucking time because I now have no faith in them and they’re fucking SHITHOUSE!

I am now considering putting my supporter-ship out there for occupation and am seriously considering shifting my allegiance to another club. Intelligent suggestions are welcome.

**insert gasp of disgust in here**

Yes, I am deadly fucking serious, I know this is really naughty and frowned upon, but they just never fail to disappoint and the footy they play is boring and old.

Collingwood, get your fucking act together or I’m going elsewhere!
